Rainbow Words · Privacy
What the app keeps, where it is kept, and who can see it, in plain words, for teachers and families.
Who signs in
Only grown-ups sign in: a teacher for a class, or a parent for their family. Children never create accounts or type anything about themselves.
What is kept
- Your account: your name, your email, and whether it is a teacher or family account. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase (with Google or with email and password).
- Your class: the class name, the sight words you are working on, which words the class knows, stars and stickers, and your settings.
- Children's first names, if you type them in for the Superstars wall. Please use first names only, never last names.
- Voice recordings: the app does not record children. The microphone is only used in Owner mode, to record the word sounds; those recordings are saved with the account that is signed in.
Where it is kept
On this device (in the browser's storage), and, so it works on every device you sign in on, in Google Firebase (Google's cloud service).
Who can see it
Only you. Teachers cannot see other classes, and families cannot see other families. The Rainbow Words owner can see each class (including its first names and progress) in order to give support.
There are no ads, no tracking and no selling of anyone's information.
Other services
The app's fonts come from Google Fonts, sign-in uses Google Firebase, and the site is hosted by Netlify. Like any website, they handle basic technical details such as your IP address in order to deliver the pages.
Delete information
- Remove a child's name at any time in ⚙ Grown-ups.
- To clear this device: sign out, then clear this website's data in your browser settings.
- To delete your account and your class completely: ask the teacher or school who gave you the app code, and the Rainbow Words owner will delete it.
